SIDEY BIO
Sidey has been involved in the music industry for 40 years. His career began as a Drummer in Brass Bands. This lead to drumming in old time dance bands around the Coalfield Districts of Northern NSW.
Moving on from there, in the 60's he became involved in Top 40 bands such as ‘The Lincolns’ and various other club bands around Newcastle, then into his beloved Country Music joining bands such as, ‘Honeysuckle’, ‘The Kelly Express’ with Jan Kelly, ‘Bushrock’, ‘The Billabong Boogie Band’ with Bruce McCumstie and ‘The Little Mountain Band’ with Donella Plane.
In recent years he became the resident drummer at 'Poley's Place' at Barrington during their Hoedowns at Easter and Oct as well as becoming a part of Lindsay Butler's backing band, "The Butler Boys" playing drums, harmonica and singing the occasional Merle Haggard song. Sidey, along with wife Annie-Ree are known as 'The Sideys'.
Sidey's songwriting ability has recently come to the fore with songs being recorded by 'The Sideys' and more recently by 'Brian Letton'.
'The Poorest Millionaire' was the only original track released on Brian's latest album 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow', while 'Driving Through A Postcard' which was co-written with Shaza Leigh, was released as Brian's single for the LBS Country Collection and has had great success. So far receiving a 'Silver Medallion Award' at the 'NSW Gold Medallion Awards' for 'Songwriter of the Year' and is now a finalist for 'Bushballad Of The Year' at the Tamworth CMCA Awards as well as the 'TSA - Tamworth Songwriter's Association' Awards.
